How Our Green Spaces Came to Life in Cyprus

In Cyprus, our project took a very tangible form: two living green facilities built inside our schools. Together with teachers, mentors, and external experts, our students created a quail farm in Limassol and a rabbit farm in Dali, turning school yards into spaces for real-life learning.

The type of each facility was chosen by the students during the project seminar, and once the decision was made, the work began. We prepared the designated areas, installed animal habitats, and equipped both farms with composting installations and green energy sources, so that sustainability could be demonstrated in practice, not just discussed in class.

At BNU “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Limassol, students focused on ecological observation and the life cycle of quails. At VU “Vasil Levski” in Dali, the work centered on rabbits, humane animal care, and environmental responsibility. Teachers who had taken part in the project mobilities guided the process, applying their new knowledge directly in their daily work with students.

From the very beginning, these spaces were designed to be used regularly - and they quickly became an integral part of school life.
