Once our bio-farms were completed, they quickly became living classrooms. Regular extracurricular activities transformed them into spaces where students learn not only about sustainability, but through sustainability.
In Nedelino, activities focused on harvesting vegetables at the right maturity stage, depending on their culinary use. We combined agricultural knowledge with cooking requirements, practicing farm-to-table principles and understanding how food choices affect health and the environment.
In Progled, extracurriculars took a more experimental approach. We tested fruit tree adaptability at high altitude, grew trees from seeds, and applied different cultivation techniques. This hands-on work helped us understand climate impact, biodiversity, and long-term environmental planning.
Both schools actively use the composters to recycle organic waste from school cafeterias and farm residues. The resulting bio-fertilizers are applied directly in the farms, closing the loop and demonstrating circular economy principles in action.
These extracurriculars strengthened our practical skills, teamwork, and confidence to take responsibility for shared green spaces.
